Puppy Socialization

Puppies will be socialized in my home with adults, children, and other pets. This is a critical part about developing a healthy puppy and is done between weeks 4 and 16. Well socialized dogs make the best pets! Approximately eight (8) weeks after your puppy is whelped, your puppy will be soaped and an evaluation of the litter is done by a HSDAA evaluator to determine how closely your new puppy meets the Havana silk dog standard. Puppies that are not going to be shown in the conformation ring will be sold on a spay/neuter contract only.

Registration

Your puppy will come registered through the Havana Silk Dog Association of America. He or she will be registered as a companion if you  are purchasing a pet. If you purchasing your Havana silk dog for showing and breeding, your puppy will be registered as a provisional silk dog and will be elgible to be certified after two years of age as a Certified Havana Silk Dog.

Health Care

You are responsible for ensuring that your puppy gets the best health care throughout his or her life. You agree to have your new puppy thoroughly examined within the first 3 days of returning home as a baseline and on a continual basis to compare back to. Should your puppy show up with a major genetic defect that the sire and dam have been screened against it is your responsibility to contact the breeder as soon as possible to discuss your options. You have the choice of returning your puppy for another one or returning your puppy for a refund minus your deposit and any rebates provided. I will not assume any veterinary costs that you incur with your puppy nor will I be held responsible for any illnesses that occur to your puppy based on environment and any neglect on your part. As a dedicated Havana silk dog breeder I want nothing but the best for you and your new puppy. Once your puppy goes home with you, you become the puppies responsible owner.

Shipping

I will NOT ship puppies. You must be willing to travel to come get your puppy or make arrangements for me to deliver your puppy to you. If you need to fly, they are better off with you nearby in an airline approved carrier stowed under the seat in front of you!

Deposits

A non-refundable deposit of $200 and a completed application is required to be considered as a new home for one of my puppies.  You allow me, the seller, to check your references to make sure that my puppy is going to the best and most loving home possible. If reference checks are good, you will be placed on our wait list based on the date your deposit and application was received. The remaining balance can be paid in installments or at one time. However, your puppy must be paid before you pick him or her up.

A maximum of $50 will be refunded for testing that has been completed and submitted to OFFA for patella's (knees) after age 1A maximum of $85 will be refunded for testing that has been completed and submitted to OFFA for hips and elbows after age 2. A maximum of $335 in rebates can be yours for ensuring your puppy gets the appropriate health testing! By doing this, you allow me to track the health of the puppies I produce so that I can improve my breeding program.
A completed puppy application and deposit is all that is required to secure your place in line for a new puppy.  All puppy applications will be processed by date of receipt. Our goal is to match puppy temperment to their new families.  If no puppies are available at the time you make a deposit, you will be placed next in line for a puppy behind those who have already put a deposit down and contacted when one becomes available. If after submitting your application you change your mind, please notify me so that someone else who may be interested can be considered.

Super Dog Program

From the 3rd day of birth your puppy will receive “Early Neurological Stimulation” a program originally developed by the military called the “Super Dog” Program. Carmelo Battaglia, Ph.D. has written some very good information about stimulating and socializing your puppy at an early age. Your puppy will have participated in these exercises from day 3 to day 16 of his or her life. This will help improve heart rate, help create stronger heart beats and adrenal glands, provide more tolerance to stress and a greater resistance to disease. These puppies are high achievers and more active and exploratory than puppies that were not stimulated in the research. Puppies

Every puppy deserves love and attention in addition to good food, exercise, medical care and a safe home. At the same time, every puppy buyer deserves the happiest, healthiest puppy possible.

My goal in breeding is to produce healthy puppies that are both show and pet quality by selecting a sire and dam that best meet the Havana silk dog standard. I can't guarantee that every Havana silk puppy will be perfect but I can guarantee that I will do all the research necessary to select a healthy stud dog that best meets the Havana silk dog standard.
